Photoepilation with IPL LUMENIS M22
DEPARTMENTS / Photo and laser technologies

Photoepilation is a modern powerful procedure for the removal of undesired hair, based on the affection of particular hair structures with the intense pulsed light (IPL). In this case, the main target for the action of the light is melanin, a pigment within the hair, which determines the hair color. IPL photoenergy provides the heating of hair shaft up to the temperature at which growth cells within hair follicles die casing hair follicle breakdown. Epidermis and surrounding tissues are not damaged. Moreover, intense pulsed light treats hair feeder vessels, which makes the hair removal procedure even more effective. Light affects only hairs that are in the growth stage, which is about 20% of hairs (depending on the area). Therefore, to get rid of undesired hair, 5 to 8 procedures spaced 1-2 months apart are required.

  • M22 system is equipped with the continuous cooling technology, which cools the skin to -10°C during the whole procedure, which considerably relieves pain, protects the skin against burns as well as gives an opportunity to increase the capacity of exposure to achieve better results.
  • Advanced pulsed light technology is conducive to a deeper penetration of light with no damage to the surrounding skin
  • Sapphire light guides a light impulse to treat uniformly the skin surface.
  • The systems allows selecting the most efficient programs focused on a particular skin type or hair color.

M22 system is a multiple module system developed by Lumenis (USA), the first company to develop the IPL technology. Due to the unique technologies and know-how, Lumenis systems provide the perfect quality and safety of procedures. In the domain of machine cosmetology, Lumenis is the undisputed leader in laser epilation and IPL technologies. All the Lumenis systems are FDA approved and applied by leading specialists all over the world.

  • IPL equipped with the Optimal Pulse technology (OPT™). A single tip is applied for any type of IPL exposure. Seven filters and 2 sources of light allow setting the exact intensity and duration of exposure. The specialist can regulate the intensity and area of the impulse action as well as its optimum allocation within the area and the type of emission (solid light or discrete pulses), which allows carrying out procedures in a delicate, comfortable and safe way.
  • Pulsed Light technology Nd:YAG laser. Nd:YAG module is equipped with two auto-cooled sources of discrete laser radiation. This provides precise exposure and additional comfort during the procedure. Additional function of IPL allows applying the module for the treatment of telangiectasia, hemangiomas and other vascular events of different origin as well as for the removal of undesired varicose veins.
  • Q-Switched Technology Nd:YAG laser. Five handles with one-piece tips provide customized approach to the procedure process. A homogenous ray is applied to increase the safety and efficiency of the treatment. The system is ideal for the removal of pigment spots, dark tattoos and for the combination with other M-module procedures.

During the procedure, the patient is to wear tinted glasses to protect eyes against flashes of light. Just before the procedure, special gel is applied to the skin. It absorbs photoenergy and prevents burns. After that, the epilation area is exposed to light.
